as time goes on As time goes on describes my Achillies tendon, it just wears outand the pain and burning get worse. I guess I have had it for years. I used to be able to stand on risers and sing barbershop music as long as I wanted but it burns after about 30 min. now. I am currently wearing the boot and that helps a lot, Lots of other things have had to be slowed down but thats ok I just turned 68 yrs. and am doing well. Jerry

Re: as time goes onHi Jerry, what boot are you wearing? I am 36 yrs old and i have been suffering with this since around 1995 when I became an lpn and started really walking a lot, it never bothered me in high school, I was always active and played some sports, (not a lot...lol but some) the pain and the buring vary when it seems to be x its least it is always there and after 12 hour shifts x work, i cant walk down the stairs like a normal person, it burns and hurts so bad I just limp down them one x a time. I was wondering how long you have been suffering with this, i cant take ibuprofen as I had an ulcer and I currently take ultram and use lidoderm patches. The patches I use x work and I still have pain, with the patch I have 100% pain, with it around 20% if I had to stage it like that. I have thought about surgery more than once, however dont know its the best idea. I just hate hurting every single day.
Re: as time goes onHi,
I have also been hurting for several years and thought it was a heel spur and could heal it myself. After going to a specialist and founding out what was wrong I am now wearing a boot also. The doctor offered surgery as an option. What do you think about that??? He said I had injured my tendon. I am 61 and my Mother with Alz. lives with my husband and I. It takes me 3 times as long to do anything and I am so tired of the pain/ It is 2:45 am and the sharp pains keep waking me up. The boot helps during the day. What do you think about the surgery?? JB
Re: as time goes onHello Jerry,
I know what you mean. I've gotten to where I just don't say anything, but surely there is something that would help. The person at physical therapy said an anti-inflamtory would not reach the tendon so I am not taking any of that. Does Ibeprophen help?? jb
Re: as time goes onIt is a support boot. It is heavy with support especially around the ankle . It has 5 straps around my leg. It comes up to my knee. You know how you are so scared when you are in a store that someone will accidentially run into the back of your heel. Well the boot really protects that. JB
Re: as time goes onMy husband gets mad at me when we are shopping becuase he always has to push the cart, and I will never walk anywhere near the front of him, as he has ran in to me several times, and I could just kill him! Thanks for the advice!
