6 months after partial tear, still relapsing

Post a new topicby guitarch on Mon Sep 07, 2009 3:37 pm

I partially tore my achilles jumping out of bed and running down stairs. Spent 2 weeks in a boot, then a stress fracture was discovered in the calcaneal; spent 8 weeks in a cast. Then physical therapy sessions but have never been able to do calf raises without pain coming back. Wearing heel lifts and doing stretches all the time, but can't walk much distance or stand in place long without burning returning. I also notice pain in the calf. Could I have also torn a calf portion and have had improper healing or scar tissue or shortening of the muscle? Am currently scheduling another MRI this time to include the calf. It's been 6 months since initial injury.

PS - I had an allergic reaction to something the other day and doc gave me a 6 day prescip for Prednisone - can short term use like this affect an already weak tendon complex?
