11 year old with achilles tendinitisMy 11 year old son has been experiencing heel pain about two months.It is gradually getting worse.His pediatrician says he thinks achilles tenditis.He took an x-ray refered us to a podiatrist can't see us a month.Can be diagnosed whith an x-ray?Is a common problem an active 11 year old? doctor gave me no advice on to do until I am seen by podiatrist Is re any thing I can do to help him?

Re: 11 year old with achilles tendinitisChildren often get heel pain due to being active and growing so quickly. If this is the problem, it is known as Sever's apophysitis. This is simply inflammation of the heel bone. It should resolve over time but you should try to limit your child's activity until it is properly diagnosed.
