Alternate Training with Achilles Tendonitis

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed May 08, 2002 9:25 pm

I am training for my 9th marathon and came down with what I believe to be achillies tendonitis and realized it too late. Now, even walking can be painful at times. However, my marathon is a mere 3 weeks away. Would cycling in place of running continue to aggravate the injury or should I just pull out completly? Any other training suggestions?

Thanks,

You really should be accurately diagnosed by a doctor before deciding exactly what you should do. However, I can tell you that if you have a tendinitis where even walking hurts, cycling will aggravet it also and you probably should pull out of the marathon to avoid a much more serious injury.
