Heel Pain orthotics creating knee pain

Post a new topicby 50+bballer on Wed Nov 12, 2008 9:09 pm

Hi all. I am an active 55 year old who plays full court basketball 2 to three times a week. After a recent absence from the court for a couple of months, I started playing again about a month ago. I started experiencing significant pain in my achilles tendons after playing. It was difficult to walk the dog the day after playing basketball. One of my friends suggested that I try Dr. Scholls heel pain orthotics I bought some and I have been playing with them in my basketball shoes for about a week. I have also been icing my heels after playing. The good news is that my heel pain is decreasing, and they are feeling much better. The bad news is that I have developed pain on the back of my knees! I have never had knee pain or problems before. Can anyone tell me if the knee pain is associated with the use of these orthotics? Will it go away after a while, or should I stop using the orthotics?
