heel pain

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Feb 13, 2002 5:13 pm

I began having heel pain about two months ago. The pain is most severe on the back of my heel. I do not have calf pain. My doc said "tendonitis with minimal achilles involvement". She recommended stretching. I have done stretching, treated with ibuprofen and ice. It seems no better. What next? Also, I wonder if this could be related to a large heel spur that was pointed out to me on an xray some years ago, but which has never bothered me. The pain is not in the bottom of my foot, but on the back of my heel. There is some definete swelling and redness. Thank you!

The none spur on your heel is vertainly a problem. It may be the single cause or it may have caused a bursa to form which is leading to the pain. You should see a podiatrist for a thorough examination and diagnosis. Good luck and please write back if you have any further questions.
