Pain at back of knee.

Post a new topicby MARTINLKING on Sat Mar 07, 2009 7:56 pm

During an extended period (15 minues!) of standing, walking or golf, sharp pain occurs at back of right knee that makes it difficult to bend the leg. Gradual, gentle flexing over several minutes is required to restore motion to the lower leg. Is this Achilles Tendonitis? Treatment suggestions?

Achilles tendonitis is pain near the ankle , the pain behind the knee is something different although sometimes there might be a link between the ankle and the knee... the pain behind the knee is usually coming from what is known as a popliteal fossa..The best treatment for this kind of injury is hands on techniques usually done by a chiropractor to releave stress from that area.. hope this helps

Doesnt sound like achilles tendonitis, as the tendon doesnt extend that far.

Well said boss, its probably popliteal tendonitis which is situated behind the knee..
