Pain in third toe - left foot

Post a new topicby epowell on Thu Nov 29, 2007 2:33 pm

I'm new here. I have been seeing a pod doctor. He has not found the problem. I have sharp painsit
my third toe on my left foot, and some soreness. I am taking two pain pills each day which helps, but still feel the pain. He ruled out gout and ingrown toe nail. Exrays did not show anything. Just trying to get some ideas from others on what to look for. Started about two years ago but has become very
painful in last 4 months. No swelling, just sharp pains.

Do you have any pain when you try to pickup a towel with your foot? I'm having some severe metatarsal issues as well as achilles tendonitis.

My podiatrist recommended some sort of orthotic or insole that comes with a metatarsal pad. I bought one from a running store and the pad was just too big. It ended up hurting my entire foot even more.

I'm still hobbling around trying to find answers myself, but I too have the sharp pain in my third toe (on the right side). In fact, my two middle toes are starting to separate, which I've been told is a result of a metatarsal issue.

Try a moderate metatarsal pad and ice non-stop. Good luck!

Sounds to me like you've got Morton's Neuroma. Your symptoms fit. And, NO, insoles and orthotics don't work to relieve the pain. MN is a damaged nerve. Check out the posts under the Morton's Neuroma heading in the left margin under "Conditions". Don't pay any attention to the commercial advertising on this site, everybody's trying to sell you some sort of miracle cure. Snake Oil!!!
