"Reverse" tendonitis?

Post a new topicby Postman on Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:53 pm

Several years ago I was diagnosed with achilles tendonitis in my right ankle. Went through all the recommended treatments: PT 3 times a week, ultrasonic massage, aircast, boot, steroids, etc. Pretty much no improvement. Finally gave up and just endured the pain, did my own PT, and it eventually subsided. Until now.

The odd thing is that my pain is worst AFTER resting, not during or following activity. When I get up from sleeping, or watching television with my foot elevated sometimes it is all I can do to walk. After walking for a few minutes it seems to "work itself out". I don't do a lot of strenuous activity so I don't remember anything that would have brought this on again.

Once I start walking I can go pretty much non-stop, but when I stop and rest again, the pain begins again. Anyone else suffer from this? It just seems odd.

The only thing I am taking for this is ibuprofen. I also get some temporary relief from applying Aspercreme on my heel.
