Ruptured Achilles Tendon

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Jun 19, 2002 6:34 pm

I am 43 and about 12 months ago i ruptured my left achilles tendon on the job. I had the MRI and saw a specialist who told me that the pain, swelling and the knob on my heal would possibly go away in time, but there were no guarantees.

I am the manager of a busy up-state golf course and find myself on my feet all day long. I am now having pain behind my knee and also in my left hip. Could this possibly be related to my rupture? I find that I cannot even squat down to read a green (my knee seems to be a little swollen).I would very much appreciate some advice.
Thank you!

Rupturing your achilles will put more strain on other joints such as you hip and knee so this is definitely a possibility. Surgery to fix a ruptured achilles is often peformed so you may want to ask about this rather than waiting in pain. Unfortunately, June/July is not the best time to take off for a golfer. Good luck and please write back if you have any further questions.
