What should I do?

I have been having pain in my left ankle when I first get up in the mornings, then over a period of about 3 months it got worse and was sore every time I would stand and go to walk. I do not play sports and rarely do exercise, except my house has 13 steps at front and 13 at back to get in and out of.
So I go off to the Dr who gives me ipbrufen for inflamed ankle. This didn't help so went back again, Dr sent me for a scan which showed inflamed achilles tendon at 6.4mm thickness. So Dr wanted to inject cortisone and I refused (don't like injections) so she gave me Prednisone. I am also not fussed on taking this for 10 days, but she informed me this probably wont help and I will need the injection in the end. It does feel a little better but aches quite continuously, also had terrible cramp in the same leg during the night and it was too sore to stretch.
