Ankle Injuries

I am a 54 yr. old woman who suffered a fall down the stairs 2005. Had several surgeries and have a plate in pins in my fibula. After waiting for a wound to heal from the tibia exiting my leg, I also had several pins inserted there. I have lived with worsening pain since 2005. Xrays have shown worsening post traumatic osteoartritis. Recently visited well known specialist who diagnosed full bone on bone condition ...no wonder it always hurts! Saw a second specialist at The Rothman Institute here in Philly who concurred with the diagnosis but wouldn't do a fusion without trying a FAO brace first for several months. My research shows fusion is very successful and allows 95% pain relief. I want my life back, want to work again, travel, and just do a full grocery shopping without serious debilitating pain. Respond if you have either had a brace or the ankle fusion . The more support and info, the easier to make a decision. Thanks
