Ankle Injury?Hi...Im a 32 y/o male runner. Still fairly new to running, about 2 years. At the end of a 10 mile training run for my second half marathon, I felt pain underneath the outside of my ankle. Felt just like I had rolled my ankle or sprained it. The following week I completed the half marathon. Around mile 5, the pain returned and became more and more intense as the race progressed. To the point where I basically limped across the finish.
I took 2 weeks off of running and bought some arch supports. This was recommended to me by someone knowledgeable but not an expert. This person also believed the pain might be coming from a ligament injury. Now, Ive gone on a few short runs and it feels a little better but the pain returns. Funny thing is there is no swelling or redness. Ive done a little research online and Im starting to think maybe I should see an expert? Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any recommendations? Appreciate the time! Kevin
Re: Ankle Injury?first see my previous post to ambassador3 and the ankle question...also consider a condition referred to as sinus tarsi syndrome post injury...when the final analysis is done = if a STS is the diagnosis, then nsaids and a local steroid injection to the ST may be your answer...cautious diagnosis is the key...get an MRI with contrast for the lateral ankle so you know the extent of soft tissue injury before starting any treatment routine...
