Ankle pain surfaces awkward sleeping position

Post a new topicby rbhancock on Mon Jan 26, 2009 11:47 am

This has happened to me once on the left ankle and now on the right. I play soccer on artificial turf in cleats. After an abrupt stop, the cleat caught in the turf and I felt my ankle tweak around the achilles as if the tibia/fibia were moving forward and jarring the talus. At the time, no pain followed and I continued playing.
Two weeks later I slept on my side with right ankle hanging over left. I woke up an felt strain, but not immediate pain. The next night I can't even sleep, very little weight bearing and I have to walk very slowly with my foot pronated out 45 degrees.
Very strange that it take sleeping wrong to activate such a grueling injury. Any ideas?
