Inside ankle pain occurs after basketball, not from sprain

Post a new topicby myleftfoot on Sun Apr 19, 2009 9:41 pm

I have had numerous ankle sprains over the last 30 years from playing basketball. Most were minor but I have had at least 2 severe sprains. My current problem develops after I stop playing and doesn't bother me during play at all. The pain is on the inner part of the ankle and feels like a tendon type of injury, swelling occurs almost as if a sprain. I have difficulty walking the next couple of days after playing but then the pain disappears and doesn't come back until the next time I play basketball. My work involves me standing for the entire 8 hours and I don't have any pain in my feet or ankles at all. I hope someone can give some insight as to what could be causing the pain and what might be done about it without having to go to a doctor or curtailing my basketball playing. Thanks.
