torn ligaments

Post a new topicby stevegp on Mon Mar 31, 2008 12:12 am

I had torn two ligaments in my left ankle, and had surgery to repair them. however, the surgery was not successful. I now need a second surgery, and it has been recommended that I use cadaver parts to repair my ligaments. does anyone know how safe are these parts, and are there any side effects that I should be concerned with?

I can't say I've ever had them, but all the reports I'm seeing are saying that there's a chance of complication (of course) and that some patients experience pain after surgery in every-day life (See http://www.springerlink.com/content/wg5267661029074m/fulltext.pdf for more information and graphs explaining the effects, they also explain the process there... you'll need Adobe Reader) but that it seems to be generally successful.

Hope that helps. =]
