Athlete's Foot

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Aug 20, 2001 9:15 pm

Good Evening. I have developed what I believe to be athlete's Foot. The symptoms are, itching, cracked skin, several blisters between my big toe and the next toe. The blisters are very painful and sometimes they open up.
My family physicition has prescribed a cream by the name of Ketoconazole, which I have been using now for approximately 4 days with little or no improvement. I am not sure what I should try next. Is there a possibility it could be ring worm...I am not sure of what the symptoms of for that condition. This is just very very uncomfortable. The blister are between my toes and around by the front of the toes. I would appreciation any reccommendations or suggestions you may have. Thank you so much. Annette.

It is probably not ringworm. However, when a skin condition occurs, there can be a lot of inflammation in the area. The ketoconazole will not help this aspect which can cause the itching. Therefore, you may want to ask your doctor if a cream with a steroid and an antifungal is possible. The steroid will decrease the inflammation.
