Serious foot infection

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Apr 03, 2002 9:09 pm

Seven doctors.... and no one has helped my father. He started with athlete's foot using an over the counter treatment. When his foot continued to get worse he went to the 1st doctor. That was 6mths ago. He's had months of antibiotics,a bone scan , MRI and debriding of the infected spot (between big toe & 2nd toe). The doctors he has seen have checked him for diabetes & blockage -both negative as were the bone scan & MRI for Osteomytosis. Nothing has helped. He can barely walk or sleep,is in excruciating pain and at wits end because no one can figure out whats wrong or find an affective treatment. Please respond with any suggestions or contacts that could possibly lead to proper treatment .Your help would be greatly appreciated . Thank you.

In cases like these, an oral steroid medication can calm the inflammation and ease the pain he is suffering from. There are many dermatological conditions that can occur,;especially in the winter months, that can cause pain and itching that will be relived with a steroid. Therefore, this is an area I would ask about.
