Swelling,peeling dry skin on feet

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Sep 07, 2002 9:57 pm

my husband has had psoriasis on his legs, scalp and upper torso which is cleared up now. His feet have developed a swelling of the foot and ankle, dry skin, peeling, and a redness that began with the toes but has gradually worked an outline on the upper part and side of his feet. His feet feel like they're on fire and when he walks the skin feels like it would pop. He has had sores and a few pimple blisters. The doctor has had him put his feet in the sun for 15- 20 minutes a day along with using Dovonex 0.005% ointment and Clobetasol 0.05% Gel. he has also lost a 30 lbs but is gradually gaining a little weight back. What is going on here?
Thank you for your interest

It sounds like he either has another type of psoriasis or eczema. Ultraviolet light often helps these conditions and this is why your doctor has him in the sun. If this therapy does not work, you may ask about a biopsy for a definitive diagnosis.
