Finally decided to get surgeryI am 26 yrs old,and have a bad case of brachymetarsia on my right foot. it is very slight on my left foot and not noticeable unless you are a doctor or closely inspecting my foot.
I have a lot of physical and emotional pain about my foot problem. Physically, it is hard to find dress shoes which I am required to wear at work. Most dress shoes press down on my little toe and are very painful. None of my current friends, other than my boyfriend, have seen my bare foot. I occasionally wear d...Read the full article
Re: Finally decided to get surgeryWow as i'm reading this , it's as if you are describing me. I can very much relate to you. I have the condition on two toes bilaterally. Nobody ever saw my feet either except my boyfriend. It's something that is very hard to live with - especially emotionally.
I wanted to get a surgery done for 8 year now... I finally decided to go for a consultation apointment to Baltimore... As I do live in Canada it will cost a lot of money, so this was the only thing stopping me... Where are you planning to get your surgery done? Are you thinking of getting a graft or an external fixator? You can also e-mail me at [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]
Re: Finally decided to get surgeryWhere in Baltimore are you getting the surgery. I just started my research am looking for MD in New York or close by. Md Lee in Arizona seems like a competant doctor who does alot of these surgeries.. Have never been so happier to know there is hope and a fix for my ugly toe.
Re: Finally decided to get surgeryHey - I live near NYC and I currently have an external fixator on my left foot (which will hopefully be coming off this week). My Dr is amazing, he has an office in Manhattan, Queens, and CT - I can give you his info if you want to do a consult w/ him. If you are planning to go to Baltimore - Dr. Dror Paley is supposedly the best in the country for bone lengthening. Anyway - I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you guys might have. I did a ton of research before taking the leap. Also - its really nice to have someone to talk to if you do decide to do the external fixator because you will have tons of questions as you go.
Re: Finally decided to get surgeryI've been on counsoltation with Dr. Paley in Siani Hospital in Baltimore... Although he is moveing to Florida as of June 2nd.
Dr. Lee does a one stage surgery... I personnaly perefer to do it with external fixators ( I think it's better and safer... less trauma and damage to the tissues) Do you know by any chance the prices for the surgery?
