Bunions

I had a bunionectomy in June 2007 and I still have a knot on the side of my foot. Everything healed fine and I didn't have any problems, but why is the knot still there? My doctor told me it could take many months before it went away and there could still be some swelling around it, but if anything changed, the knot is slightly bigger. Do all bunionectomies look like that four months later? I thought after the surgery the knot would be gone. Somebody please let me know!!!
