I have seen two podiatrists for opinions on having my bunion removed. I have good referrals on both of them, but am having a hard time choosing between the two. They really differ on the type of pin they use. One uses dissolving pins unless the bunion is really bad (and then he uses a surgical pin that is later removed), and the other always uses permenant pins that are not removed. Can you help me evaluate the pros and cons of each, and help me pick the right surgeon Thank you very much!

Absorbabale pins advantage is that they do not stay in your bosy and disolve after three months. Their disadvantage is they do not offer as strong of a union after surgery so you will not be able to walk on your foot as quickly. Also, there is a small occurrence of peole who have an allergic-like reaction to the absorbable pins which can cause pain and swelling for up to a year. Screws offer a stronger hold and normally do not cause a reaction in your body. The disadvantage of these are for people who do not like the idea of a screw in their foot.
