Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpHi Debbie
Yes it is so cold in NY...............about 11 now. I get such itch dry skin in this cold weather...can't wait until Spring. What part of Virgina do you live in? I am in Westchester NY. I know what you mean about worrying so much before you have the surgery............it's human nature. That's great that you were pretty good in six weeks. That is not so bad. I will let you know what happens on Friday when Isee the doctor agin...................the young young doctor! lol How is your other foot feeling? Louise
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, Hi! I hope its warmer there today! It is above 50 here now but sooo windy. I live in Southwest Va. I live in Midway, which is a little place that's probably not on the map! (I've never checked but I believe I will lol!) I am very much a country girl. Love flower gardening and such! How about you?
My foot is doing very well. Thanks for asking. It has improved so much over the past few days. I quit babying it so much and I believe that has a lot to do with it. It's only been 6 1/2 weeks since the surgery so I guess that's pretty good. It's just hard to get used to those toes being numb. It feels like my toes are in ice all the time but if that's all I'm in good shape. I know what you mean about young drs. I hate to go to one younger than me! I don't know why but it feels awkward don't it?
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpHello...so it is snowing, amd freezing rain and cold tonight.....................boy do I hate this. If it weren't for my kids and grankids......................I would be in a warmer climate for sure! The older I get the more I hate winters in NY. I love my summers in NY, gardening and flowers and just being outside..................................I am such a counrty girl too..or should I say country grandma
I am sorry your toes are cold and numb............I know about that because I have heard about that. How long before that feeling disapates? Young doctors...............make me feel wierd too but they are really up on all the new techniques and they read, read and study a lot.................so that is good. I am going to look up Midway....lol
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, now its snowing here! Nothing like up your way though thank goodness. I keep reminding myself that spring is getting closer all the time. I hate cold weather too.
I don't know if the numbness and cold in my toes will ever get better. I asked my dr. if it would get well or at least better and he said "possibly" so who knows. I agree with you that young drs. are probably more up to date on stuff. They put alot of years of study into it. My son is a junior in high school and I can't believe some of the things they have! He doesn't ask me for help with homework anymore! Wonder why?! Hope you're having a good day today. Not long till your dr appt. is it? Hopefully you'll have all this behind you before time for "outdoor activities". Debbie
Happy Valentine's DayHope you had a good day today. The foot that is numb, is that the one you just had surgery on?
Can PT help? Maybe when the weather turns warmer your foot will feel better. Did you have numbness with the first foot when you had the bunion removed? I go tomorrow to the doctors.................so I am ready wuth all my questions. The one I want him to answer is will I be able to run or jog again? If he says no, well then I am not sure what I will do. That's part of my life now after 20 years of running. Have a good night Debbie in Midway VA. I looked it up...nice town. Louise.
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, Hi! I hope your dr. appt. went well. Surgery or Not? I hope he answered your questions.
Yes, the numbness was caused by the neuroma surgery. Those two toes will always be numb because they removed that nerve. I have heard that it gets somewhat better though. I guess after a while you just get used to it. I'm sure you will be able to run after surgery. My foot was so bad before I had the bunion removed that it was a pretty complex surgery. I let it go until I couldn't hardly walk before I would go to the dr. Since he took the screw out I think it'll be better. After it heals from this surgery I may be able to run (not that I will). lol I'm so out of shape I've gotta do something. You mean you found me on the map? Really? I didn't think it was on there!! I've lived in the same county all of my life. I guess this nut didn't fall far from the tree!
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, Hello! I'm just anxious to hear how the dr. visit went. Hope the news is good. I'm sitting here soaking my feet. You know, if someone would have told me 25 years ago that I'd be sitting home on a Friday night with my feet in a pan of water I'd have laughed at them! Oh the joys of foot pain!

Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpGood Morning. Yes I am having surgery on the 24th of March. I feel confident that this doctor is the one. He was very thorough in explaining my surgery and said that I will eventually be able to go back to my normal jogging again. Yes, there is a surgery that would put me out of commission for months, but he said he will be able to get my foot to almost perfect with the less invasive one. I will still have a tiny bump on the side, but nothing like it is now..so the 24th it is. It is funny but I feel kind of relieved now that I mad up my mind..................you know. He mad me laugh because I said I watched the video of the surgery and he said that many watch almost all of the surgery and if I wanted to I could! I guess you are only under for a short time, while they do the cutting and sawing..............................and breaking. Yikes. I said no thanks. ha-ha
I think with time, your two toes will stop bothering you. It's funny how you get use to things....When I had a problem with one of my teeth, I fractured it, after all the work it felt funny to me. Now it feels just fine. I thought on no, am going to feel like this in my mouth forever...but I got use to it. As for Midway...I went into Midway, Virginia and one of the sites showed me a small map and written very tiny in the middle it said Midway. lol It is suppose to be warmer here today..........................I am going for a run..................one of my last ones for awhile. Have a good Sunday. Louise
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, great! It sounds like you have a good dr. Now, what will we do till March 24? That seems like forever when you're waiting for something like this! I'm sure that you will do great with the surgery though. Hope you have a great run today. Its very warm here also. I love it but I'm afraid it won't last.
I'll write more later ok? I hope we can keep in touch until surgery. My son says I'm addicted to this forum! It's just nice to discuss problems with others who understand. Debbie I watched the video too! Then wished I hadn't!!!
