Re: Bunion Surgery coming close march 24Hello to Debbie and all. Well my surgery is getting closer and closer and I am getting more anxious as the days go by..................I think the waiting is the worst. My day is March 24. I am glad I have decided to do this because I think in the long run, I am going to be happy. I have spoken to three people who have had this surgery and who had my doctor..............all good storeis. I guess th eworst for me is not to be able to exercise for awhile. I will keep you inform and wish me luck. Please. Louise
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, great to hear from you. I know the waiting is terrible! I agree it is probably the worst! It won't be long now though and I'm sure that you will do fine. Maybe it won't be long before you can exercise again.
Have a great day! Debbie
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpHi debbie......................................Oh my goodness what a week. Pre op chest xrays, etc. My blood pressure has spiked. I guess because of my anxiety and stress at work and worrying about surgery. I had to go back to the doctors yesterday to see if it went down and it did not! It went all the way up to 190 over 100!
The more they told me to relax the more I was stressed. My doctor called the surgeon to see if he wanted to cancel and he said no. If it spikes that day they will give me more of my blood pressure meds in an iv.........................go figure.................as soon as I got home it went back down. I am really worried about that pressure spiking on Monday. All through my life, I always work myself up when something is coming up that I have to go through thatI am not too keen on. To boot I think I have the sniffles tongiht. OI could not sleep all week so I took tylenol PM the night before going to the doctors, so I htink that has a little something to do with it too. I cannot wait until this is over. How are you doing? Your foot? Better? Happy Easter Louise
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, Happy Easter to you also! It sounds like you've had a rough week!
Do you normally have high blood pressure? If so, I can see how the extra stress could make it spike. I am surprised that your surgeon wanted to continue as planned. No doubt though, when they put you to sleep it'll go down. Or at least you'll relax! The worrying is worse than the actual surgery though. I'm sure you'll do great. I hope you don't come down with a cold or anything now. I'll be glad for you when it's over. I've been doing fine other than this darn foot. I get sooooo aggravated!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby says I've been doing too much. I guess so but if I had to sit here all the time I'd soon be crazy. (Even more than normal) I think the last surgery didn't take care of my problem. Still waiting though. I messed up and cancelled my last post op appt. and now it's hard to say when I could reschedule. I'm gonna try to give it a couple more months and see what happens. I know I'm too impatient. After your surgery take it easy and don't rush it. Give that foot a lot of rest and time to heal. Do you have crutches? If not , try to get them. Keep me posted. I'll be here. These forums are addictive I think. Debbie
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please Helpsorry you arer having a hard time with that foot. Maybe it will just take a little longer to heal. I hope so. What kind of sedative anathesia did you have? I am afriad of being put out.............Is it a deep one ? Is it put in your hand by IV. Sorry for all the questions...............but it helps to know from someone who had it done......and survived! lol Louise
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, I had general anes. and no, it doesn't seem like a very deep one because I wasn't asleep very long. They do put it through your IV and they also gave me a couple of pills beforehand for nausea. I didn't have any bad side effects from it. I never even went back to sleep when I got home. Have you been put to sleep before?
Debbie
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpHello Debbie
Yes I had a colonscopy in November and I was put out with an iv in my hand and a anes by my side It was okay but I did not have to go for any pre op test or anything.........................so I am confused because h e surgeon said it will be the same as when you went for your colonoscopy? I guess I wll BE OKAY AS SOON AS THE DAY ARRIVES. My cold is very mild. I have been using Zicam gel swaps in my nose every four hours and it seems to help. No temp. So you weren't really under that long? How long was the surgery, about 1 1/2 hours? When you woke up, were they finished? Thanks so very much. Happy Easter Louise
Re: Bunion Surgery - Please HelpLouise, It is a little different than a colonoscopy. You are put completely out for this. My surgery lasted about an hour I think. I woke up in recovery after all was done. I wake up fast from anes. anyway. I always tell them I've got to hurry and wake up because someone's waiting for me!
I'm glad your cold is not bad. Is it cold there now? My son and I have been outside doing some stuff Fri and Sat. and we're both sunburned. And now its 30 degrees! I hope that you sleep tonight and don't worry too much. Just think by this time tomorrow it'll be behind you and you can make people wait on you!!! Better take advantage of it! I wish you great luck and keep me posted. Happy Easter!!! Debbie
