Bunion surgeryAs a result of bunion surgery five years ago, I have developed another problem that I am still suffering with. I had Bunion surgery of my left toe, in addition, the second and fourth toe were straighten during the bunion surgery.
Shortly after the surgery I developed a small pressure point on the ball of the foot that I had never had. After review of my case the doctors felt the problem was the second toe was shifted too far toward the large toe. A year and three months after the first surgery, I had surgery on my second toe to move it to the left. This did not correct the problem. I still developed this very painful spot on the ball of my foot that beccame a hard spot that I had to go to the foot doctor for about every eight weeks. I now have a cronic shooting pain in the foot and surgery has been suggested again. This doctor feels the second toe has shifted back toward the large toe and a nerve is now involved. I hate the thought of another foot surgery but the alternative is to suffer for the remainder of my lif with this problem that has not gone away. I am only 54 and very active and need a solution to this problem. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me. Emma Watson
Re: Bunion surgeryIt does sound like a nerve problem but you may want to try cortisone injections, orthotics, and physical therapy before trying another surgery.
