Bunions and aerobic exercise

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Aug 26, 2001 12:23 pm

I have been evaluated by a podiatrist with moderate bunions in both feet. I have opted for not having bunion removal surgery at this point since I use orthotics and don't have any pain. My question is: do my bunions will get worse because of aerobic exercise like bicycling and fast walking? I also do hiking for around 10-miles trip with steep trails, will this cause my bunions to get worse?

Exercising in proper shoe gear will help keep you active and fit. Therefore, do not give up exercising because you are afraid your bunions will get worse. Unfortunately, they will most likely get worse if you do no exercise at all.
