bunions

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Jan 26, 2004 9:46 pm

I had a bunionectomy almost 20 years ago and have been VERY happy with the results. They aligned the big toe with a pin that came out after a few weeks. I now have trouble with the bunion on the other foot and just recently saw a podiatrist who was recommended. He said they do not use pins anymore and use screws. How does this affect the recovery time? I am on my feet for hours at work and am only planning to take one week off. I guess I'm wondering how bunion surgery has changed over the last twenty years - I was in and out in about an hour with just a local. It seems everyone is saying recovery time is much longer than I remember. Thanks for your help!
