BunionsI had bunion surgery one year ago. After the initial healing process, I developed metatarsalgia at the second metarsal. After months of physical therapy the pain is now in both my second metarsal and my first metarsal and sesamoids. Often the pain is unbearable. There appears to be no immediate solution. What should I do next?
Re: BunionsYou should continue to work with your surgeon to help alleviate your pains. Besides physical therapy, orthotics and cortisone injections may be beneficial. Good luck and please write back if you have any further questions.

Re: BunionsI have worked with my surgeon; the pain continues. I recently discovered a porces of making orthotics called the FOOTMAXX system which utilizes data obtained from a gait analysis. Is this process better than the traditional (static) process of making orthotics?

Re: Re: Re: BunionsThe FootMaxx system is a new way to make orthotics and has proven to be very good and more scientific than previous methods. In your case, you may benefit from a modification of the first metatarsal area with either a cut-out or extension due to your pain. I hope this answers your orthotic question.
