Traveling with CharcotI am a 56 year old Delta Flight attendant with Charcot foot really, Charcot feet. I have had diabetes for 32 years. I broke my right foot in 2000 and had surgery for Charcot in 2001 and had it tweaked in 2003. Then I broke the left in the beginning of 2009 and had surgery June 29, 2009.

Re: Traveling with CharcotYou speak the truth. Staying off means staying off. Since doctors don't know when the bones will reharden, if you are on them during the reshaping or while they are still soft, fusions might not hold, screws and pins might not hold, etc. It is very hard to stay off your feet for 5 or 6 months, etc., but you don't want to go through all of that and have it not work and then wonder if it was because you were not completely compliant. My fusion did not hold, now I am faced with amputation.
