newest most current techniques in removal of bunions? Both of my big toes pronated at approximately 45 degrees as my second third toes. At 78, I don't think I want to go through pain of typical stard bunion removal including pins through toes. re newer techniques?

In order to fix the bunions, surgery with pins or screws is really the only possible way. However, since you have lived with bunions for quite some time, you may want to just wear wider shoes so you can walk comfortably. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.

I have a very active 15 year old daughter who has bunions on both her feet. She has needed surgery for a number of years, and I am finally making her stop to take care of this. My question is- her Dr. recomends doing one at a time, however I am afraid we'll never get her back in to get the other done. If I push the issue I'm sure he'll do both, but would like to hear from others who have had both done at once, and also others who had separate surgery. What would your Dr.'s recommend? Thanks

HI. I had my bunions done seperately, three months apart and the recovery time was about a year. I just had more radical surgery and the recovery time is much longer. I believe it would have disabled me for at least three months, since it did that with one. Two would have made me completely dependent--without a leg to stand on...so I'd advise doing one at a time.
