Knot at bottom of toe

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

Hello, In span of 3 days, I developed a knot on bottom side of my big toe about 3/4 inch in diameter. I haven't done anything would injure toe. I don't wear uncomtable shoes. It's just a fat knot at bottom (not on sides like a bunion does) of my big toe. shape of it reminds me of a big bubble blister get when wear out r feet, knot is hard it is not clear in color like a blister it feels deeper down than a blister. It doesn't hurt too bad when I put presure on it (yet), it does feel odd when I walk because knot at bottom of my toe touches ground when I walk. I never had any history of gout, my poor diet has led me to getting kidney stone. feeling I get when I walk on ground is something akin to when I got a seed wart on my finger...it just feels like a dead knotty callus under my toe. Hoever, if squeeze moderately, re is some pain. is at bottom of my toe? Ronny Davis

One possibility is that a bursa formed due to shoe pressure. This can become inflamed which causes it to swell and get larger. This is known as bursitis. The problem then is that the inflamed bursa continues to get even larger and more inflamed. This cycle continues and needs to be treated by a physician such as a podiatrist. Another possibility is that it is a ganglion cyst. These have similar appearances. Finally, gout is also a possibility. You should go to your local podiatrist for a thorough examination so a proper diagnosis can be made and the correct treatment regimen can be started.
