possible corns or calluses

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Jan 30, 2002 5:35 pm

on the ball of each of my feet is a sore spot. both form a callus over them and when walking, pressure is applied causing pain. the only relief i have found is to cut away the layer of skin covering this spot.
the spot itself is approximately 1/2 inch in diameter and has what appears to be a core of some sort. and yes this core is very painful if messed with. i originally thought it was plantars warts, but reading on this web site, now im not sure. any help would suffice.

The plug you mention is very common and it can be a cyst or a keratoma. Neither is serious but they are obviously painful. It is probably caused by an enlarged sesamoid bone causing extra under your big toe. You should see a podiatrist to have it treated and the plug removed. Also, of is reoccurs becasue the skin has been permanently traumatized in that area, there are skin flaps that can be done to remove the bad tissue and leave good tissue intact. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.

well im not disagreeing with your possible diagnosis and know that attempting a diagnosis over the internet is difficult at most, but the spot i talk about is not adjacent to my big toe. it is more to the middle of the ball almost straight out from the middle or third toe. this is on both feet. ??
again i appreciate any help and yes i do plan on consulting a podiatrist in the near future. thanx again
