CAT scan

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Apr 05, 2002 12:46 pm

Should your eyes be covered during a CAT scan? My 72 year old mother had a CAT scan done after a car wreck 2 weeks ago and her eyes were not covered during the procedure. She says that now her eyes do not feel right. Last year she had catarract surgery and did very well.

No, it is not necessary to shield the eyes. The amount of radiation absorbed by the cornea is negligible during one encounter with a CT scanner.
