Diagnostic Tests

My doctor sent me to have an MRI of my brain and said I needed contrast dye. However, when I got to the test sight, the technician said I didn't need it and did the mri without the dye. I am confused now as to whether or not the mri will be totally effective without the dye. Symptoms related to headaches, tinnitus, sinus trouble.....thanks.

Many if not most head MRI's are done without contrast. MRI, by itself, is a very sensitive test for picking up brain abnormalities. Many use contrast, gadolinium, only in certain circumstances.
