fistulotomy and cutting setonMy husband has just had surgery for a fistula and has a cutting seton placed as the fistula is too high for a complete fistulotomy. He has been having dressings done every day for three weeks and has been told not to lift, pull of push anything or do gardening and only go for 30 minute walks. He wants to return to work but his job consists of lifting and moving heavy objects. Has anyone out there had a partial fistulotomy and cutting seton? If so how did you cope with lifting and pulling did it affect the seton in any way? How long did it take for it to cut through the fistula?
Re: fistulotomy and cutting setonI had this surgery last Nov, one year ago this month. The seton was removed 6 months later in april. You really have NO idea how much you use those muscles, and could really experience alot of pain if you strain that muscle and the seton were to tear in the slightest. It really needs to cut through at its own pace. Be very Careful. I did some gardening and tried to move a potted plant, and was in quite a bit of pain for days!!!!
