Foot Pain

I had surgery on my foot 2 yrs ago for torn ligament. Well everything was going great and now after 2 yrs just pain …I can’t stand on my feet for long.I was told I’d be slightly flat footed but I wear inserts..I like to know how athletes do it? How do they go back to walking and running cause I can’t?
