heel pain/plantar faciitis

I have what I think is plantar faciitis. We are about to remodel our shower with a river pebble bottom. Now I am reading that I should avoid walking on stones. Would this be okay since I'm not really walking in the shower and not in it very long or will this worsen the problem?
