Mystery Toe PainAfter 60 years, all of a sudden for the past 6 months or so, I have been experiencing periodic pain in the toes of my right foot. It seems localized to the 3rd and 4th toes and/or their connection to the rest of the foot. I can go days without any symptoms, but then without warning I begin to feel discomfort. It comes on gradually, and if I recognize it and can sit down for a spell, it seems to go away. If I have to get up and walk, then by putting all my weight on the heel makes a positive difference. I had symptoms yesterday, but gave it some rest in the evening and when I went to bed there was no pain. However, at about 2:00 AM the pain was back, excruciating enough to wake me up. Unable to fall back asleep, I took some aspirin, and after awhile was finally able to sleep. When it was time to wake up for good at about 6:00 AM, there was no pain or discomfort whatsoever--as is the case right now, as I type this at 3:30 PM.
I never have problems with my left foot. What could this be?
