Orthotics Cause Pain?

Post a new topicby Archimedes on Thu Jan 14, 2010 5:51 pm

I was diagnosed with plantar faciitis and as a result got a pair of custom orthotics made for my footwear. After approx. 3 weeks of 'breaking' in the orthotics I developed a pain in the pad under the big toe. It is very sore to walk on but subsides when I am off my feet. My perception is that (perhaps) the orthotics have put my foot into such a position that I am putting a great deal of weight bearing on the big toe and consequently the pain.

Is it possible that I am still in transition with the orthotics and the pain will eventually go away? It seems at the moment that I have just replaced one pain with another.

Sure hope someone can offer some good advice.
