I wish I had an answer for you. I have had it for 2 years. I am on the meds and it has helped. I hate to think I will have to be on them forever. I am female and 55. I was in denial for several months after the diagnosis; but I could hardly walk; so I started taking the colchicine and allopurunol. My acid levels aren't even that high, but my MRI showed a lot of bone erosion from having it for so long. My doctor showed several of her associates my MRI to confirm her diagnosis. I try to avoid as many of the acidic foods and alcohol, but could never tell any difference. Let me know if you find any answers. Good Luck.
