Gout or......

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Sep 10, 2002 11:46 pm

My Dr. isn't sure if its Gout or Tendonitis I don't drink, I do not eat red meat on a regular basis, while that doesn't exclude me, I'm totally confused!

The symptoms between the two seem almost identical and the anti-inflamatory she prescribed can be used for either one.

The Dr's office did a blood draw to look for high Uric levels, but everything I've seen says thats not conclusive even if they are high..

In short - is there anyway (short of having them draw the fluid from my joint in the ball of my foot/toe) to tell the difference between the two??

Tendonitis typically occurs slowly and lasts for a long time. Gout occurs very acutely and the pain only lasts about a week. Finally, gout occurs in joints and bones versus tendonitis. These should help determine the appropriate diagnosis.
