gout

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Aug 12, 2002 9:12 pm

I wore shoes that were too tight for 9 hours one day and the next day found both of my big toes so painful that shower water hurt them. I have swelling and dark red lines at the base of my nail bed. My toes were completely numb for several days, It is now 4 days later and they are still very painful. COULD I POSSIBLY HAVE GOUT? OR COULD MY TOES BE JAMMED FROM THE SHOES?

Your nails were probably pushed into your toes and you may have an abcess/infection under the skin. You should see a podiatrist so you can be properly diagnosed and treated. Also, it is unlikely that you have gout.
