I have Gout and have a question, please help! Please help, I attended a specialist paid a lot of money but he preferred to hear himself talk so,
I am asking you. I have from time to time a sudden onset of pain which feels like severe bruising. It starts at the "outer" side of my food and the following day it can move further along the side and up on to the instep. Can anybody tell me if it is caused by gout i.e. uric deposits. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.
Re: I have Gout and have a question, please help!Gout usually affects the big toe joint and is described as sudden onset with redness and severe pain, but at times although rarely can affect other parts of the foot. From the sound of what you describe and without an examination, it's hard to say if it's directly related to your gout. It could be inflammation of the tendon on the outside of your foot either from poor support in shoes. Next time this happens, I would recommend you see your nearest podiatrist to rule out an acute gouty attack and you may benefit from a insert to help support your foot. Hope this helps!
Re: I have Gout and have a question, please help!I have pain in the same area you are describing. I have been diagnosed with gout. I am still in denial about having gout. From what I read, gout is supposed to come and go; like 'attacks'. But mine has been contant for almost 2 years. I am on an uric acid reducer and anti-inflamatory. I hate to admit it but the meds do help. I am mostly afraid I will have to take them the rest of my life.
Re: I have Gout and have a question, please help!Since my first letter to this forum I have learned a lot more about the condition. You can get Gout
in many parts of your body. I am now taking one Alupurinol and one colchicine tablet together everyday and I haven't had a bad attach since. Mine was so bad that I could prick the skin of the under part of my tow and a creamy liquid substance would pour out that I believe was the uric acid Urea. My blood tests have shown that I am still producing uric acid, but I am waiting for a new medication to come on the market it was due in January. Hope that is of some help and I know exactly what your pain is like. P.S. Everybody thinks it happens to drinkers of alcohol, Wrong!
