OUCH!! It's Gout!

I am a 43 yr old female, diabetic have had 6 attacks of gout since Nov.29,2000. My doctor has tried colchihine, I cannot tolerate, I have severe vomiting diahrea..We have tired anti-inflamatory drugs only wards off Gout a short time period. We have done 24 hr urine test to rule out an problems my kidneys. Thankfuly y operating perfectly he said. can I do???

There are other drugs that can lower your uric acid levels so you do not have gout in the future. If you have more than three attacks per year, it is advised that you take a drug daily to keep your uric acid level lower. This will reduce if not completely stop your gout attacks. One drug that is used is allopurinol. There are also many others that are available. Also, make sure to reduce sweets from your diet.
