I am a walker 3-4 miles a day. My way of keeping weight down. Two years ago I began having lots of pain in my right foot, it swelled in the ball area (large lump). It ended my walking unless I absolutely had to. Doctors took 8 x-rays and found nothing, I bought everything on the market to cushion my foot.
They finally gave me orthonics to put into the shoes. That helped, but not totally, then it all ended in a claw toe I need to have it fixed, it is ugly and I need to where sandels for comfort,...Read the full article

I too had pain in the ball of my foot for about 8 months. I should have gone to Dr. It went away but then noticed the second toe had become deformed (hammertoe/claw toe). I put off any surgery for about a year but it was getting worse. I had surgery 2 weeks, 2 days ago. I have regretted it so far. Very painful. Dr. replaced joint in bunion toe, shortened the 2nd toe, cut tendons in 4 little toes, and inserted stainless steel rods in four litttle toes ( which stick out the end of my toes). My toes and foot are swollen and painful. He never gave me the entire picture of what and how long this would go on. I have 2 more weeks with rods in my toes. Misery! I have heard from a friend that some chiropractors treat toes. That's what I will do with the other foot. (Its not as bad). I would never, ever recommend this torture.
