clawtoe releaseI had a claw toe release done (PIP arthroplasty) in March 2001 in my R foot. Four of the five digits were done and the pins were removed after a month. Now, about 8 months later, I noticed while applying cream to the incision scars, that there is a hard bump at the base of my fourth toe. I am not sure how long it has been there but I discovered it two weeks ago. Sometimes it is sensitive to touch. What could this be and is it typical? I am not due to see my surgeon again for follow-up til January and wonder whether it can wait til then. Thanks.
Re: clawtoe releaseIt is most likely scar tissue. However, if it concerns you or is causing you pain, you should see your doctor before January. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.

Re: Re: clawtoe releaseThanks for responding. Just curious...does scar tissue take the form of a hard bone? And, is it typical for only one toe to have this even if all of them were done?
Finally, am I looking at more surgery to correct this? Tx
It is most likely scar tissue. However, if it concerns you or is causing you pain, you should see your doctor before January...
