Hammertoes/Claw Toes

Hi, I had hammertoe surgery on my left foot 9 days a go,(I had an appointment 3 days after surgery) But I have been looking in the internet on some comments from other people and it seems like almost always your toes are fuse at the joint. I asked my Dr before the surgery if I was going to be able to bend my toes afterwords and he said yes, but as I look at my toes , they have a pin sticking out . Does that mean that he fuse my bones at the knuckles? I have an appointment with the Dr next Friday.Could he have done another procedure? Any help will appreciated. I will welcome all your comments.
