The partial supports you mention are difficult to talk about unless I actually see them. However, if you are wearing them right now, you should probably stop. However, if a podiatrist told you to get a pair of orthotics, these can help with hammertoes. This is because hammertoes usually occur due to the arch flattening and the muscle imbalances that are created when this occurs. However, there are other types of hamertoes that can occur in high arched feet as well. That is why partial supports that are not prescribed by a podiatrist concern me. Orthotics should be prescribed to you by a podiatrist. Your foot needs to be analyzed properly before orthotics can be simply handed out. The fact that your symptoms have started so suddenly concerns me however. Therefore, you should see a podiatrist anyway to make sure everything is okay in your feet. Good luck and if you have any further questions, please write back.
