I NEED HELP WITH MY CLAW TOES

Post a new topicby lonedogg1 on Thu Dec 06, 2007 1:21 pm

Hi i broke my tibia and fibula clean snap around 5 years ago and formed hammer toes/claw toes which ever one its called. So i went to the doctor and had surgery done. I had my tendons on 4 of my toes cut and my tendons lengthened on my big toe. The 4 little toes r nice and straight but i dont really have power in them the big toe is still bent and still bends when i point my foot upwards. The reason he didnt cut the tendon on the big toe was because he said i would lose alot of power in my run and i wanted to be playing soccer this year so he suggested i needed it for strength. I still have problems with my big toes and i was just wondering with streching will it straighten out or not or should i have surgery again and have my toe fused and if so will i lose power in my run?

stretching will not resolve the positional problem...a fusion sounds very reasonable and the amount of propulsive loss should be minimal...you will compensate for the difference in function...
