orthotics for hammer toes

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Apr 16, 2002 4:26 pm

I have had hammer toes all my life. My mom has them too. They never bothered me until 5 months ago when I was running (i am a jogger) and front of foot started hurting. I started wearing wider shoes and recently got orthotics. But the orthotics are killing me and giving me major blisters. Is this normal? I just got the orthotics. How long before I break them in?

You should break them in gradually and not all at once. You also may need to have them adjusted if they are creating pain. Therefore, you should see your podiatrist and explain the problems you are having. This is the best way to get them adjusted so they help you rather than hurt you.

Doctor says that my feet needs to get used to them and that i should try them out for a couple of days. Is this right? I am getting very painful blisters.
